A TIME TO CHILL
Thursday, June 18th, I used the day to chill. My body was shouting at me. I needed rest and time to rejuvenate.
At 4:30 a.m. I was awakened from a sound sleep by the noise created by the noisy departure of my neighbors. I was able to fade back in and out of sleep dreaming of the pancakes and eggs I was going to have for breakfast. Finally, at 7:30 I got up and got ready for breakfast. I rode over to the village food court. I was so hungry. I had not eaten anything other than power bars since lunch the day before. For breakfast I ended up eating two orders of Pancakes and eggs. The strength had returned. I spent the day in the Village relaxing.
I did notice my right knee was quite swollen and decided to try and get it looked at by the doctors at the Village Clinic. I needed to be assured it is just swelling and nothing serious. My knee was fine. Just a tissue injury; tender to the touch in places, and some swelling. I was given clearance to continue on my journey. After the clinic, I had lunch in the Deli with the best Turkey Sandwich. I had one but could have eaten two.
After lunch the nurse at the clinic suggested I go down to the river by Housekeeping Camp and the beach and stand in the river and let the cold water cut down the swelling. As I stood there, I observed the beautiful valley, the people on the beach, in the water, and rafting on the river. Everyone was having the time of their life. Where I was standing, I was shaded by the trees so it was cool. I felt a little bit of heaven. This was “me” time. I appreciated it so much.
It was now time to get connected and post these reports for all to read. I went back to the cabin and got my things and headed to the library and dinner.
When I got to dinner at the dining hall, I saw they had trout & ordered it. As I got to the end of the line, I saw they had spaghetti pasta with Alfredo sauce and ordered that too. I have never felt so hungry. I had no problem eating everything.
At 10:00 p.m. the day was over and it is time for bed.
I am looking forward to biking through the high country of Yosemite the next day. I was going to experience it like I had never experienced it before.
